John Laing is a shipwright class bm ketch, specially built to be sailed by young people. She has sailed around the world and was specially chosen by the British Army for an expedition to Antarctica in 2001. The John Laing is operated by the Ocean Youth Trust South from her home base in Southampton, and she takes hundreds of young people on sail training voyages each year. Her size and sturdiness make her the ideal ship to be sailed by young people, but she also offers a challenge for older or more experienced sailors.
