Digging for bait prohibition sign, Boulmer

The sign, situated on the dunes at the southern end of Boulmer informs us that "Digging for any form of fishing bait is prohibited north of this line". The sign is notable as it still carries the name of the former Alnwick District Council. Following local government restructuring the district council ceased to exist on 1st April 2009. On this day all the district councils of Northumberland were abolished and their responsibilities transferred to Northumberland County Council, creating a unitary authority.
