The notice board outside Penychain Station announces its temporary closure. At the time of this photograph the line had been closed since the previous November, although engineering and staff familiarisation trains had begun to run prior to the planned 1st September reopening date. This suspension of service was primarily caused by movement detected as a result of the construction of a new bridge at Pont Briwet, but winter storms caused a great deal of damage on this route and there would have been a lengthy closure anyway.
