This property is from the 16th century with later additions and 20th century alterations but typifies homes in this part of Cheshire where prices rival those of the Home Counties. In recent times, villages like Prestbury and Mottram-St-Andrews (as with Hale and Bowdon) have attracted footballers and TV stars who have helped to drive up property values. (Wayne Rooney lives in the vicinity.) Happily, this Hall is safe, but - with lesser houses - the practice has grown of demolishing the existing structures to replace them with something even grander - although not necessarily better.
