Dated to the early 19th century, Listed Grade II. There are no visible inscriptions on the stone. Markham Common was the crossing point of the Great North Road (later A1) and the Sheffield to Lincoln main road (later A57) where 4 separate turnpike trusts met. Due to modifications to the road junction it is not in its original location.
