The Hoskins Room is named after Sir Reginald Hoskins the first Principal of the Bonar Law College on its opening in 1929 - it is said that he was laid out on a billiard table in this room when he died here! The splendid colonnade and other plasterwork seen here is the work of Matthew Digby Wyatt at the behest of Lady Marian Alford, one of the main contributors to the interior style of the house as it is now seen. This plasterwork dates from the late 1850s during Lady Marian's extensive redecoration.
