This part of the River Eden is tidal and as you can see the tides have been quite big pushing mountains of rubbish and reeds up over the saltmarsh onto the path. The path which follows the river here is a public right of way and popular with dog walkers and wildfowlers in the winter months. The bridge is in the background.
