Formerly the site of a Shell-Mex distribution depot, the ongoing urbanisation and expansion of private housing in the area meant that many homes were being built on the other side of the railway line, making safety an issue should the storage tanks (now removed) catch fire. This brownfield site has lain empty since the distribution depot was closed in the '70s.
