The path here is in Buckinghamshire but beyond the stile there is a road, the Icknield Way, and on the other side of the road the path continues in Hertfordshire toward Tring. When we moved to a house near here over 40 years ago this would have been part of a narrow strip of open fields, somewhat neglected. Now nature has taken over.
