Viewed from the modern cycleway that runs along the side of the River Dee from Shotton, behind the camera, on past the Queensferry bridges to Chester. Immediately in front of the camera, and covered in grass, are the remains of the northern bridge abutment for the old Queensferry bridge. This bridge was replaced in 1926 by the bascule type blue bridge, the end of which is seen on the right of the photo. Garden City is to the left here, and Queensferry is to the right, across the blue bridge and the River Dee.
