Benchmark on Stoke Orchard Church

This bench mark on Stoke Orchard Church was established in 1844 during the First primary levelling of England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 68.794 feet above mean sea level (Liverpool datum). It was included as a side level on the Manchester to Gloucester levelling line. The surveyor's description was "Mark No. 428(c). Stoke Orchard Church. Mark on South-west corner ; 1.17 ft. above surface." (Public Abstract p.36)
