The name of the fields according to Hurstpierpoint's 1842 tithe map that have been merged along with Image to the east to form a larger unit. Dencher field was adjacent to Job's Lane whilst Quagmire Field lay at the northern end. Both names give an idea of how difficult the soil was to cultivate in this part of the Weald.
