Acton Park was purchased from the Goldsmiths' Company and the Ecclesiastical Commissioners in 1888 and opened to the public later in the same year. A windmill once stood in the corner of what is now the bowling green. This is Acton Park Lodge on The Vale which now houses the Ranger Base.
