'Lag or Leg. A long narrow marshy meadow, usually by the side of a stream' from 'A Dictionary of Sussex Dialect' by the Rev W D Parish. Farncombe Lewes 1875. This field is long, narrow and very wet and the Hornbrook stream flows down the eastern (right) side. It is also part of Horsham District Council's 11 mile riverside walk around the town of Horsham, see http://www.horsham.gov.uk/leisure_and_tourism/leisure_315.asp
