Category C listed late 19th century rebuilding of an earlier structure possibly dating back to the 17th century. The pub is said to be the oldest hostelry in Dunfermline. The earliest recorded public coach service to Edinburgh started from here in 1806 and the original gantry was preserved and is still in use. On 2 June 1885 Dunfermline Athletic was founded at The Old Inn. Around 1939 alterations were carried out by James Grant Shearer Dunfermline born architect. Joe Haggerty bought the pub in August 1979 but sadly died in January 2013 and was said to be Dunfermline’s longest-serving publican before handing over the reins to his son Mark who sold the pub in April 2014 to City Hotels.
