A boundary marker at the edge of Spring Park, one of the areas of common owned by The City of London. The City maintains a number of these commons, acquired in the late 19th century when The Corporation feared that urban development was expanding so fast that there would soon be no open space within easy reach of most Londoners. http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/things-to-do/green-spaces/city-commons/spring-park/Pages/default.aspx
