Four Acres/Great Mead

The name of the fields according to Hurstpierpoint's 1842 tithe map that have been joined to make a larger unit. Four Acres was triangular in shape and lay in the foreground, a remnant from a larger field that split in two when the old Brighton Road was rerouted in the early 19th century. The great Mead forms the rest of the field going eastwards. In the distance is Image
