View northward, towards Loughton and Epping, also Hainault: formerly the ex-GER Liverpool Street - Leyton - Loughton - Epping line, junction of Fairlop Loop via Hainault to Ilford. Passenger services were taken over by the LPTB Central Line in 1946-49, those on the Fairlop Loop south of Hainault using a new Tube tunnel between Leytonstone and Newbury Park; freight traffic ceased after 4/66. The Central Line Underground train on the left was probably from Ealing Broadway to Hainault. (Cf. Image]).
