The original house dates from around 1650 and was enlarged in 1869 by William Leiper of Honeyman, Keppie and Mackintosh for client Alexander Stronach, MD of City of Glasgow Bank. Lindsaylands is Grade B listed. Interestingly, the City of Glasgow Bank collapsed spectacularly not long after, in October 1878. The only difference with today's bank collapses is that the Directors of City of Glasgow bank were arrested and were tried at the High Court in Edinburgh in January 1879. All were found guilty and sentenced to terms of imprisonment.
