Two large postboxes stand side by side on the southern side of the High Street. The one nearer us (no. 209) is a George V-reign one cast by McDowall Steven & Co., while the farther one dates from the Elizabeth II reign - not one of the earliest, as the slot is flat rather than curved with the box; but not one of the newest either, as the words ROYAL MAIL replaced POST OFFICE in 1994.
