Cranleigh likes to boast of itself as the largest village in the country but while most villages are losing their shops, Cranleigh has acquired two large supermarkets - some village. It has, however, lost its railway so, ironically, the site of its station has largely been taken over by the new shopping centre, Stocklund Square, and its adjacent sizeable car park.
