Wyndham Carpets is at 79 Nolton Street. Next door is Bridgend County Borough Foodbank. Schools, churches, businesses and individuals in the county borough donate non-perishable food to the foodbank. Volunteers check that the food is in date then pack it onto shelves ready to be given to people in need. Care professionals such as domestic violence charities, health visitors and social workers identify people in crisis and issue them with a foodbank voucher. The voucher can be used at the foodbank centre to obtain 3 days emergency food. Volunteers meet clients over a cup of tea or coffee and inform them about agencies able to solve the longer-term problem. The Read Plant Hire Ltd highway maintenance vehicle is in use during road resurfacing in Nolton Street, which is closed to traffic during this work on a Sunday.
