Boston Manor House: rear elevation

Image: © Stefan Czapski Taken: 11 Jul 2014

The manor house seen from the south-west. Apparently built in the 1620's, but much patched-up, which undermines any sense of antiquity. In the rear elevation the rhythm of the windows is totally unrelated to the gables, and that - along with a lack of symmetry around the entrance - seems, to me, to undermine any sense of grandeur. Photo taken on a rather overcast July evening.
