An estate agents' SOLD notice was on the building in July 2014. The previous autumn, a local newspaper reported that the building had been empty for several years. Thieves had been inside and stripped it bare, ripping up floorboards to remove copper piping. Later, community safety officers went into the building to ensure it was empty before boarding it up. The building had been abandoned by its owners after a failed four-year attempt to obtain planning permission to convert the Victorian villa to flats.
