Officially called the North Doncaster Chord, this viaduct opened in 2014 enables trains (principally coal trains to power stations in West Yorkshire) to cross the East Coast Main Line instead of having to run along it for several miles to the next junction north at Temple Hirst Image At least initially, the route is not electrified.
