Plaques on the southern tower of the suspension bridge. In descending order:- BRIDGE STRENGTHENED AND RECONSTRUCTED BORDERS REGIONAL COUNCIL 1991 THIS BRIDGE WAS REPAIRED AT THE EXPENSE OF REDPATH BROWN & CO. LTD. EDINBURGH IN THE YEAR 1928. 102 YEARS AFTER ITS ERECTION. THIS BRIDGE WAS MANUFACTURED AND ERECTED BY REDPATH BROWN & CO. EDINBURGH IN THE YEAR 1826
