It is hidden in the shrubbery. This is a rare and probably unique type of pillbox > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4050260 - and one of two of this type guarding the northern side of the airfield. Its entrance is protected by a blast wall and there are two interior walls, a brick-built gun table and a large loophole facing in northerly direction, ie away from the airfield to cover the fields where enemy parachutists or gliders might have landed.
