Curious to know what the tiny white-flowered plants growing in the inhospitable habitat along the edge of the dual carriageway are, I stopped in a layby to have a look. It is a salt-tolerant plant normally found close to the sea, so the salt used to prevent ice in winter provides a suitable habitat for it.
