This is a pleasant pub by the riverside in Ross on Wye. In fact, this was taken from our table while we enjoyed an evening pint in the beer garden. The Hope and Anchor is actually a biblical name, from the Letter to the Hebrews, 6:19 ... "we have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope". How it became a common name for a pub, I have no idea.
