This old railway was a mineral line which served Westerton and Leasingthorne Collieries and the Coal Depot at Coundon. It connected with the rest of the rail network to the Clarence Line near Sedgefield https://sites.google.com/site/waggonways/railways-durham. Only fragments of the line can still be traced, and it does not constitute a public right of way.
