This is now the Workshop Gallery, but in times past it was the Mermaid public house up until 1811, whereupon it was renamed as the Lord Nelson Inn. It remained such until the pub closed in 1966, but during its history it was also a stop on the packet (mail) runs when the post coach would bring the letters.
