The construction of the fountain at the end of the controversial, at the time, Broadway Gardens in Letchworth. The main issues involved were the cutting down of a lot of mature trees and renaming the gardens from Kennedy Gardens to Broadway Gardens. Letchworth town hall can be seen in the background.
