The Guibal fan house is at the North Drift of the Eston Mines which was a ventilating drift. A Guibal fan is a large centrifugal fan, in this case the fan was 30 feet diameter and 10 feet wide. The fan house is built in mass slag concrete and dates from about 1871. The photograph is taken from the tramway also shown in Image and Image
