Albert Road was built to link Queens Parade, seen in the background, with the Scarborough North Pier, a promenade or pleasure pier which opened in 1869. At that time there was no road around Castle Headland so a road down to the pier was needed. Scarborian's call this road Chain Hill rather than Albert Road. This small building is called The Lookout but it was not a coastal lookout, being built in the early 20th century as public conveniences, converted to a café in 190 and a dwelling in 2004.
