This is the seepage from a large muck-heap. It is deep brown in colour and smells of...the country. A man walking his dog said that the duck and family had come the day before. He passed again today, and said "I expected to find some dead'ns. But when they saw me they went right under it". Far from dying, the duck and ducklings seemed to be thriving on the evil miasms and obviously nutritious gloop. They had their heads down and never stopped feeding all the time I was there.
