The Befesa Salt Slags Ltd factory at Fenn's Bank forms part of the Mereside industrial estate, adjacent to two large meres. The aluminium salt slag treatment plant (part of a Spanish-based company specialising in waste recycling) treats waste from an adjacent aluminium works
