Part of the Ompton water supply pumping station and booster. This was the last pumping station constructed by the Nottingham City Water Works, opened in 1969 and designed by the City Architect David Jenkins. The building is commented on in Pevsner's volume for Nottinghamshire. There are two smaller pyramids enclosing smaller pumps elsewhere on the site.
