The warning sign on the gate at the entry point to CRoW access land says 'shooting in progress'. Given the rusty state of the permanent screw fixing, one could be forgiven for thinking that the poor pheasants in Borrans Plantation were being bombarded by an unceasing hail of lead. Given the actual lack of shooting encountered one could also be forgiven for thinking that the sign's real aim might be to intimidate walkers enjoying their legal right to roam? Maybe I was just lucky to dodge the bullets?
