The beautiful gardens on the left are currently being prepared for the town's great week, The Braw Lads Gathering which is held during the last week in June every year. The gathering is one of the many great ridings' festivals held throughout the Scottish Borders, which was formed from the old counties of Berwickshire, Roxburghshire, Selkirkshire, Peeblesshire and small parts of Midlothian.
