This estate agents occupy what was a butcher's shop. Alfred Daw Collard and his family came from the Somerset village of Spraxton in around 1850, and served the public until the 1980s. Alfred was not only a good butcher but also a poet of some repute - he even wrote his accounts in rhyming couplets! Not content with that, his works sold for 1/d a copy and the proceeds given to the General Hospital. See Image] for a closer look at his bust above the door.
