The lodge is alongside blue gates at the park entrance from St Chad's Terrace. Now the headquarters of the Shropshire Horticultural Society, the lodge was built in 1887 for the Parks Superintendent. A blue oval plaque on a wall records that Percy Thrower MBE, VMH (1913-1988) lived here from January 1946 until April 1974 while Parks Superintendent for Shrewsbury Borough Council. He was the first TV celebrity gardener.
