The public rights of way around Pitshill (the Georgian house in the background) were subject of a long running legal battle between the owner, Michael Pearson, and the Ramblers Association and the local highway authority. In the end, after a public inquiry several paths were routed away from the house. Signs are still necessary as the old path alignments are shown on many OS maps.
