Opened as "Pontardulais" in 1850 by the "Llanelly" Railway, later part of the Great Western Railway, on the line from Llanelli to Llandeilo, the spelling was changed in 1980. View south west towards Llangennech and Llanelli. From 1866 to 1964, this was a four platform station. There were two platforms here towards Llanelli and a further two platforms to the left for the line to Swansea via Mumbles Road.
