Eldon Square bus station is one of 3 bus stations in the city centre serving the city. This station mainly handles local services to the south and west of the city and most of the services using the station are operated by Go North East. The station backs directly onto Eldon Square Shopping centre. The station was opened in 2009 replacing the former bus station which was located under the large shopping centre.
