The Bargate, Christchurch

The title is not strictly true, as the Bargate no longer exists, although the view is towards the street now called the Bargates. It stood close to this viewpoint where the High Street narrows, a huge structure of late Saxon origin that was removed in 1744 as it obstructed the highway.
