Rodden Nature Reserve is a recent accomplishment. Previously the area was on the outskirts of the river-based industries but was bought by ASDA, who helped to create it alongside the supermarket. The landscape was extensively re-profiled, new lakes formed and the requisite legislation enacted. Now it is an important reserve for all sorts of birds and smaller creatures. And as it is the breeding season, this reserve is out of bounds to the public from February to September.
