The 15ft stone Celtic Cross built to mark the millennium has stood in Waverton since 2000 apart from a short period in 2008 when it was swapped for a plain English Cross (see articles in the Chester Chronicle http://www.chesterchronicle.co.uk/news/chester-cheshire-news/anger-as-cross-is-removed-5231382 and http://www.chesterchronicle.co.uk/news/chester-cheshire-news/parishioners-greet-return-cross-5227958 ). The original cross was reinstated following objections from the local community.
