The cleaning machine in the centre is not used as it doesn't meet modern requirements set by the Food Standards Agency. The set of stones, boxed-in on the left, is driven by the undershot waterwheel and is in use on an almost daily basis. There is an electrically driven set of stones behind the cleaner but is virtually unused as the water-driven power supply is so reliable.
