The railway bridge here is known as 'Drift Bridge'. This is Reigate Road and the bridge carries the railway line between Epsom Downs station to the left and Banstead station to the right. The line from Sutton to Epsom Downs was opened by the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway on 22nd May 1865. The branch was originally laid as double track because of the race traffic, and was electrified on 17th June 1928. The branch was singled in 1982. During the day now there is an hourly service along the single track branch to Sutton and then onwards via West Croydon to Victoria.
