The conspicuous Dunselma Castle, is in fact not really a castle, but a large house. The "castle" was built for James Coats - whose fortune had come from the Paisley textile manufacturer "J.P.Coats and sons". It was built in 1886 in the Scottish baronial style as a yachting lodge. It has had numerous uses since, including being a hostel for a while. It is Grade A listed - see details here http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/sc-5075-strone-dunselma-including-outbuilding-boun See it in context above Strone Point here Image]
